This afternoon, I had the privilege of attending a virtual gathering with a group of women who are boldly shaping the future of AI for the betterment of women everywhere. From legal frameworks to marketing strategy, development, design, copywriting, and finance, SLAI—She Leads AI—is a powerhouse collective of women working at the intersection of professional expertise and enterprise-wide AI adoption.
Think of SLAI as the mitochondria—the powerhouse—of female-led AI development. And yes, it’s as monumental as it sounds.
I’m also proud to be part of She Is AI, a digital magazine dedicated to spotlighting women driving innovation in AI. Its debut issue is hot off the press, and the momentum couldn’t feel more electric.
A Seasonal Spark
With holiday music wafting through stores and homes, I found myself humming “Do You Hear What I Hear?”—the kind of earworm you don’t notice until it’s fully lodged in your brain. But as I mulled over my meeting with SLAI, those lyrics evolved.

And suddenly, it hit me: I wasn’t just humming a song. I was naming the moment. Because what I see is extraordinary.
Women Wielding AI as Their Excalibur
I see women who’ve already climbed mountains in their careers—whether ascending to the loftiest peaks of corporate leadership or launching businesses that redefined industries. These are the “been there, done that” women. They’ve knocked their goals out of the park, rewritten the playbook, and reached the pinnacle of professional achievement.
And now, they’re asking: What’s next?
What they’re seeking isn’t just another chapter; it’s a reinvention. It’s bigger than a new job, company, or even a move across the globe. These women are stepping into roles as architects of change, carving paths for others and raising the tide for all women.
A Collective Movement
These aren’t just feel-good stories or isolated acts of mentorship. Across small, unconnected enclaves, I’m seeing a seismic shift led by women 40 and up leveraging AI as a tool for transformation. Their work spans every facet of life and society:
Economic Autonomy: Developing AI-driven platforms that empower women without financial independence, providing resources for autonomy and dignity.
Education: Introducing ChatGPT and other AI tools to users of all ages, creating pathways for young girls to excel in STEM and STEAM.
Healthcare: Using AI to aid dementia patients in reconnecting with lost memories and loved ones.
Creative Learning: Revolutionizing K-12 classrooms by weaving AI into multidisciplinary lessons that blend robotics, ethics, design, math, art, and more.
What we’re witnessing is nothing short of extraordinary: an army of accomplished, driven, and fiercely intelligent women banding together to ensure that the second half of their careers is dedicated to lifting others.
The Power of Collective Purpose
Read that again: Women who’ve already reached the heights of success are intentionally channeling their expertise to empower and uplift others. They’re doing this not in isolation but as part of a growing, organic movement. These groups may start independently, but their vision aligns: creating a future where women lead, innovate, and thrive.
This isn’t just a change—it’s a revolution.
And here’s the most exciting part: these women know exactly what they’re doing.
